hi all

i'm using v7.9.
1. is there a way in which a moderator is able to handle posts (delete, edit, move etc.) in a specific forum only, as well as suspend users, but would not be able to edit or view any of the users' details (password, name etc.)?

i know i should only appoint moderators i trust.  however, my forum is a teenage girls' community, and i need some moderators though occasionally one misbehaves and messes up other girls' data.

2. is there a log file where i, as admin, could see when and by whom someone was suspended?

thanks

1. I think the forum allows people with moderator status to ban a member*. AFAIK even if someone has moderator priviliges then they can ban others. I do (as always) stand to be corrected!

2. there is no log of this to my knowledge - only with posting (by turning on the "last edited by..." message). However, maybe set up a moderators forum which is hidden from all non moderaotrs. You could use this to move messages you may have previously deleted, etc. and you can also use this to announce bannings.
On my own forum I use this so other moderators can get a second opinion, etc. I also get moderators to publicy announce a members suspension in a feedback forum. This way it makes it easier for us to remember when to allow a suspended member back in.

* remember to change their email address because otherwise they can reactivate their account!
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

1. moderator permissions: i think there should be a checkbox list so that an admin can select which permissions a moderator can have. i was using v6.28 till now and it kinda had that.  it will allow for more versatility.

2. log file: i think it's a good idea to make a simple text file sitting in the forum dir, updating it as certain important actions take place (suspensions, member deletions etc).

the population using the forum may not always be composed of mature adults whom you can always trust, unfortunately.
