So, I have a copy of Web Wiz Forums set up at www.dhq.nu/search/forums/. And I am installing a new copy at http://www.dhq.nu/ccelforums/. They both have separate databases, they both should be pointing to their own databases (the first one I have done some customizations on, but the second is basically just coming out of the can, err zip :-)). Anyways, when I update some configurations in the one (e.g. image logo location, site URL, name, etc.) it is crosslinking somehow with the other database and modifying that one too? Or so it seems. Yet when I create new forums it doesn't appear to affect the other database? What the heck is going on?
Respectfully,
David Mackey.

The forum software uses application variables for settings that are not often chaged in the admin section to cut down on database calls.

If you are using two sepparate forums on the same site then they will use the same application variables.

What you will need to do is either run one of the forums in it's own web (i.e. in a sub domain), that way it will run in it's own application thus application level versiables will remain untouched by the other installation.

OR

Turn off application level variables by editing the main common.asp file and setting the following variable to false to turn off the use of application variables in each forum:-

blnUseApplicationVariables = true

You will also need to disable the use of the active users table from the admin area as this also uses application level variables.

Thanks, I did that and it worked.
Respectfully,
David.
