    Posted: 30 January 2010 at 12:24am
I'm looking to install 123Flash Chat Server for my website, using the Web Wiz Mod so that I get auto-login on my chats. Looking to use latest trial version before paid to check suitability.

I've downloaded the exe and zipped WW Mod folder, now what? Have managed to upload zipped folder to server but can't upload the exe. Am I supposed to run that from my own system instead? Has anyone got any experience on installing and running 123flash?

I'm pretty new at this web design and hosting stuff so a very basic walkthrough that assumes only basic knowledge would kind of be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help in this.

123 Flash chat is a java application ( note- not the same as java script). It requires a java VM to run in. You will find Java VM's are rarely offered in for windows shared hosting, and are fairly expensive on unix shared hosting.

Most windows shared hosts will not allow you to install your own exe's, dll's, com's, etc. as  with several hundred users per machine, it would be just inviting people to install something that would take down the entire machine. .NET applications can install dll's written in a .net language as their scope is restricted.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

Oh right, I see. Thanks.

Can anyone recommend a decent, fairly straight forward to install, chat system that can run on Web Wiz? Ideally I'm looking for something that can have:

  • Multiple rooms
  • Decent range of admin features
  • Supports the forum database so I can have auto-login
  • Is affordable with decent functionality in the trial version
  • Is easy to install and maintain and runs with minimal downtime and general hassle
  • Has respectable amount of customisation for appearance etc
  • Supports restricted access rooms

Thanks in advance for any help!

I tried it, I couldn't get it to work.

Ideally I'm looking for system that's embeddable with minimal coding. I was looking at addonchat, but I wouldn't have the first clue how to integrate it so I could have autologin for my forum members. If anyone at all has any idea how I can do that, then I would have that one. is anyone able to help?

AspChatNow is the one you want as one of our forum members MadDog, wrote it to work with Web Wiz Forums.

There is not any others that I know of.
