How do you use your DSN-based mdb from 7.3 to 7.4? I get an error:

  • Error Type:
    ADODB.Recordset (0x800A0CC1)
Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal.
    /forum2/common.asp, line 254

I've also tried DSN-less way, but same thing. What needs to be ammended? I like the new features of 7.4 and I am not a programmer lol. I've changed the DSN in common.asp files but that does not do it. Using original mdb from the zip file, however, works.

  • Thx!

I assume that you allready manually edited your mdb (added the new fields and tables and set the relationships) file to make it compatible with the beta4 correct?

Like I have said about 200 times, don't use beta versions on a lve web site, also there are no upgrade tools between beta versions, so the only way you can do this is compair old and new databases and use the version history file to create the new fields and tables in the old database.

I thought there might be an easier way to do it, other than restructurizing the DB... I guess not.

While we are on the subject, I upgraded my V7beta3 DB to beta4, and everything works fine except when I try to make a new post.  When I refresh the topics I get this error:

    Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a005e'

    Invalid use of Null: 'CInt'

    /testforum/forum_topics.asp, line 377

at the top of the forum page, and only anouncements show up.  No regular topics do.  Can anyone help?

Edit:  As soon as I remove the new post via using the search option/active topics to find it (only way to display it) the topics all show up again.  I also turned off ALL the options on the forum and the error continues.

Make sure you have also set the default values for any new fields.
