8.05 Private Message bug

Hi,

A user sent us the e-mail below notifying us about a bug regarding the private messages.  We are running version 8.05.  I was wondering if it's possible to fix without upgrading to version 9 (only because we are planning to upgrade at the end of the year)?  Any help would be great - thanks very much,

There is a bug in the forums with email notifications.

Not a big deal, but it prevents the reading of private messages if someone checked "email notification". For example, right now I have a private message I can't open. When I try to open it I see the following error message:
 
Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while sending an email.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_send_mail_footer
File Name:- functions_send_mail.asp

Error details:-
CDO.Message.1
Access is denied.
