I think it's useful to have at least one unprotected section/subject in a forum to give potential users a feel for what they get by registering/paying

I'd hate to be the first guy to pay to use a forum - have to talk to myself to protect my investment.

You could always place the users in a starter (newbie) group from wherethey don't have access to certain forums. I would like our users to buy their way in to our forum and other "forum-protected" pages.

Has anyone here tried to make this work?

I want users to go to our site, join, but not be activated until we register their PayPal-payment...
