I was able to fix my issue with the instructions on the following post:

Now, my current problem is that Comcast e-mail addresses are being formatted improperly.

For example:
JoeSchmo@Comcast.net is being turned into JoeSchmo@comcast.net

Well! I found it. The email app thru which members can send email to each other was switched off. I switched it on ..and it's working fine now.

There is something wrong with your email settup for your forum.

Make sure your email settings in the admin area are correct, if theproblem persists then you will need to disable the email functions ofyour forum.

I have chkd everything. There is one admin and 4 moderators. emails of all are correct. I have tried setting a diffrent return address for the forums ..but nothing has helped.
