I provided a link to a renamed file on my site, and they downloaded itfirst pop.  Same ZIP File, just using a different name ... and adirect link rather than via a querystring URL.

Just done some tests.
* I used a machine in Perth, W Aust. using MSIE 5.0 and couldn't download the file (SAVE AS or OPEN)... always corrupt download

* Used a machine in Auck NZ (MSIE 6) and worked OK (SAVE AS)

* Used a machine here at home (MSIE6) and OPEN failed, SAVE AS worked OK

So my first suggestion would be to make sure you are using the latestversion of browser (maybe use Firefox ... as I didn't get any problemswith that) ... and dont use MSIE
Second, make sure you either SAVE AS or RIGHT CLICK the link and select SAEV AS

Must be frustrating.
I can gaurantee we can fix this problem but Borg wont allow it ... so you just have to sit tight.

Someone else had this problem and had tried different ISP's etc etc etc.

Yes you are right, I don't know. I was reffering to my local proxy, I turned it off.

But, I have 3 different ISP's. Yes ... using a querystring such as http://fly2.me.uk/?DL=web_wiz_forums_SQL_Server_v7.9.zip& ;KTA=3%2E78408391427615E%2B17
to download files can result in different caching behaviour as opposed to jjust having the filename

HOw do you know there is no proxy?
Most ISP's do this with transparent proxies ... ie nothing is set inthe users browser ... it happens at the ISP end based on port requests

I downloaded zip file 4 times, 4 different location on disk, and used winRAR 3.30, 3.40 beta 1, 7-zip and still getting errors. No proxy. 2 files downloaded with Opera, 2 with K-meleon.   1. All the files on the mirrors are fine for dowloading (ievdownloaded from a server in Perth, one in Auckland and from my ADSLconnection and all are OK.
  2. For some people to be getting EOF errors etc, then the file you have is an incomplete download
  3. For #2 to have occured IS due to the previous file download being cached.  This can occur i your machine AND at your ISP.
  4. The only way around this is force an expiration of the cacheentry (eg SHiIFT RELOAD when clicking on a link etc ... actions differedepending on browser) .... or use a different ISP.  You can alsobypass this by chnaging the file name (eg only Borg  can do this)

Wrong.

Almost all ISP's use a proxy server for caching www requests.... if not them, then almost certainly upstream as well.

What is the filesize of your file?
