Most webhosts should be able to give you some sort of statistics. Thiswill show you which files are being downloaded the most and also whatsize they are. Also check to see if one of your frequent posters added a large signature file. It could be anything sucking your bandwidth such as a spooger linking to images on your site etc.

The only way to know is to examine your log files for that period to findout what was using so much bandwidth and who.

There are a number of good log file programes that will analise your loig files for you.
