Thanks dj I've logged out and registered a test account and the avatars upload works and are displayed no problem. I'm going to have to ask a registered forum user what exactly is the error message they get.

the reason it goes into the folder upload/ another name,
the other name is the username of the user that is uploading.. keeps the server tidy .

but its strange that it doesn't work for your users. can you turn offHTTP friendy error messages to show the actual error message and postit here, this will help with the problem.

Hi folks

I have the ASPuploads facility installed on the server but this what happens when someone tries to upload an avatar.

It creates a new sub folder under the path in the directory, eg /uploads/joebloggs/anyimage.jpeg even  though I instruct the images to be placed in the /uploads folder

So basically the images are uploaded to the server but at the point of upload a window opens which says 'be patient while the image is uploaded etc' when close this a window says 'internal server error' and the avatar is not set for the user.

Strangely enough I can do this OK and the avatar is displayed but other registered users can't?
