    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=12194">ndamico</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 11999<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 01&nbsp;October&nbsp;2004 at 1:20pm<br /><br />Sorry i don't think i explained myself correctly.&nbsp; the mail server is (literally) right next to the forum server.&nbsp; same subnet.&nbsp; i'm trying to offload cpu cycles on the webserver, and was hoping it would help if i offloaded the smtp traffic to another server so the forum doesn't have to use the built-in smtp.&nbsp;since i've changed it delivery speed is the same on messages as the mail server is only configured to server a couple of my private domains (including the forum's support account)]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=1">WebWiz-Bruce</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 11999<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 01&nbsp;October&nbsp;2004 at 4:06am<br /><br />Using the localhost SMTP server always works faster no matter what email component you use.<br><br>By using an SMTP server that is not a localhost delays can be possiable in connecting to the SMTP server.<br><br>The delays depend on speed of your netwerk, network load, physicallocation of your SMTP server, how many networks are between your SMTPserver and your web server, etc.<br><br>With a localhost SMTP server you get none of these issues as the SMTP server is located on the same server as your web server.<br>]]>
