    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=1">WebWiz-Bruce</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 12960<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 13&nbsp;December&nbsp;2004 at 6:21am<br /><br />If you mean, how can you cut the amount of bandwidth it uses so the pages download faster you can do things like.<br><br><ul>  <li>Cut down on the number of forums you have (24 makes your main page quite large)<br></li>  <li>Cut down the number of topics and posts per page</li>  <li>Disable Avatars</li>  <li>Try and make the image size smaller, maybe a different skin would have smaller image file sizes</li></ul>Most of these things can be done through the admin section.<br><br>If you wish to increase the overall performance of the forum, youshould consider using the MS SQL Server version, as Access being a flatfile system isn't really capable of handling more resource extensiveapplications like Bulletin Board Systems, especially if your forum getspopular.<br>]]>

At the moment, thats all this server is doing, hosting WWF and acting as a management console for other software.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Over the lan the performance is normal, over dialup though its only just bearable.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>The forum is has 124 posts, 110 threads, 24 forums (Access Version).</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Is there something I can try and do to get better performance over Dial Up?</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>The IIS install is standard 2003 install, with ASP enabled.</DIV>]]>
