It shouldn't do although it will make a back-up copy of the original.

Try downloading the database and open it in Access and select the'Compact and Repair Tool' from the Tools menu, then re-upload thedatabase.

My Access based forum seems to have slowed, even though I periodically barch delete older topics. I tried using the compact and repair function in Access, but for some reason it makes the file like four times as big.
