    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=1">WebWiz-Bruce</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 13880<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 19&nbsp;February&nbsp;2005 at 5:14am<br /><br />With the Access migration tool all you need to do is run the tool onthe old and new databases to move the posts etc. across, this will take5 to 15 minutes depending on database size and computer knowledge.<br><br>Then all you need to do is replace the old 6.25 files with the new ones.<br><br>With SQL Server it would take longer as you would need to alter thedatabase to the 7.9 version by hand. How long this takes depends onyour knowledeg of databases, it could take 30 minutes, or it could takeyou days.<br>]]>

Is it a matter of minutes, hour or days? Of interest is especially the&nbsp;admins time (how long does he have to actively work&nbsp;during the upgrade?).<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>I just want to put a cost against it and see what the cost/benefit ratio would be. As I said, I'm much in favour of upgrading but my company says it's too costly.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Many thanks</DIV>]]>
