    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=2570">Coco Brown</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 14750<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 19&nbsp;April&nbsp;2005 at 12:41pm<br /><br /><DIV>We use Webwiz 5.0 forums for our current website.&nbsp; I've taken the forum login and extended it to be "site-wide", since certain features on our site other than the forum require an account (like registering your application with us).&nbsp; For the past&nbsp;three years, it's worked fine.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>My company wants me to split our current website between two servers.&nbsp; One here, the other in Europe.&nbsp; However, they still want to maintain the site wide login.&nbsp; We maintain all the dynamic pages and services (like the forum and ID registration), while they maintain the static pages.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Here's what I'm afraid of.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>A&nbsp;forum user&nbsp;who didn't&nbsp;select "Auto-Login" leaves&nbsp;our forum and server to go to browse these static pages.&nbsp;&nbsp;After an hour or two,&nbsp;they've come back to the forums, only to find that their account has timed out.&nbsp; Technically, they've left our site and then came back, though they don't know it.&nbsp; As far as they're concerned, they never left our site.&nbsp; Now I'm flooded with bug reports.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Is this a llegitimate fear?&nbsp; </DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>The web developer in Europe says there's no problem at all.&nbsp; I just need to increase the timeout.&nbsp; However, that seems like a&nbsp;kludge, and not a solution.&nbsp; And kludges usually get me in the end.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Any help would be appreciated.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; </DIV>]]>
