im not 100% on your question, to show your signiture as i think you mean

you have to enter one within the settings area, then you can set to show by default aso from the same area.

then when you submit a post you can show/not show signiture by checking a check box

I know it must be right here. The default for showing signature files,is that set in the user profile or the admin section? I was just goingto change the form value in message_form_inc.asp and saw that it couldbe set somewhere but just couldn't find it.
