    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=19649">JJLatWebWiz</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 15943<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 22&nbsp;July&nbsp;2005 at 7:37pm<br /><br />redsnapper, I've been using WebWizForums for several years now.&nbsp; I've had very good luck using the MS Access and MS SQL and even on MySQL.&nbsp; Most of the time this has been on shared-host servers.&nbsp; I've never suffered data corruption.&nbsp; If the one and only step that got your site running again was the restoration of the admin password and salt, something other than corruption was probably the cause.<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Once you have the site running again, I suggest you make a complete backup of the MDB, since it's so small anyway.&nbsp; If the same problem comes up again, compare the backup password and salt to the live copy.&nbsp; If they have changed, then someone is probably accessing your forum with privileges higher than you expect.&nbsp; Set and check the admin email address.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>You didn't say so, but I'll assume you changed the admin password immediately so that it is no longer "letmein".</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>I think you were also having problems with the security code that someone suggested could be due to your server not maintaining sessions.&nbsp; I think this problem could also be related to session state problems.&nbsp; Do your other asp pages depend of session variables?</DIV>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=21161">redsnapper</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 15943<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 22&nbsp;July&nbsp;2005 at 1:19pm<br /><br />if you have a big database or busy forum its best to go straight for the MSSQL version as access is really a desktop application not designed for the internet.<br /><br />i know that, but my main site is run entitely off an Access DB, gets 1000 users a day, contains thousands of items, images and other files,  and runs perfectly happily....the forum DB is a fraction of the size,has had no more than a dozen or so  users in the day since it went live and has fallen over already...<br /><br /><br />keith]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=21161">redsnapper</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 15943<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 22&nbsp;July&nbsp;2005 at 11:49am<br /><br />hae you tried logging in though the main forum?<br /><br />yes....with the same results<br /><br />also try re uplaoding files downloaded from WWF.<br /><br />already have...no difference<br /><br />the only other suggestion is if access, try a compact and repair the password/fields may have become corruptted.<br /><br />trying that now ....nope...that didn't work....<br /><br />failing that open a blank/default WWF database and cope the password and salt code fields into the existing database, that will revert the password back to 'letmein'<br /><br /><br />ok well that's allowed me back in.....but i'm a little concerned that the issue arose in the first place after the forum had only been up a few hours and had only a dozen or so posts.....makes me wary of using this prgramme if it's prone to corruption so easily. The forum DB is a little under half a meg, while my main DB is over 20meg and hasn't fallen over once in the last seven years...]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=21161">redsnapper</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 15943<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 22&nbsp;July&nbsp;2005 at 10:05am<br /><br />this is odd....did some admin work on my forum this morning, logged out and then needed to do some more work so trued to login again....only to get either an 'Sorry, the Username or Password entered is incorrect.<br />Please try again.' message (the username and password are NOT incorrect -  have them on paper in front of me)  - or a different  message: 'Sorry, only members with sufficient permission can access this page.'<br /><br />I've reuploaded all the admin files, cleared my cache on both my PC and Mac, set all browsers to accept &#099;ookies,  tried using 5 different browsers and still can't get back into the administration ...<br /><br /><br />any suggestions before i go mad?<br /><br />k]]>
