I have emailed them on this matter and expect a reply tomorrow morning; they don't seem to work at the weekends.
 
What surprises me is that having asked which email components they have installed they didn't volunteer any settings. Is this normal for hosting companies, are they all this un-cooperative?
 
My hosting company is www.redstation.co.uk and I have about a dozen sites hosted with them at £60 per year. If anyone would like to recommend a more helpful host I'd be pleased to hear. The only thing they appear to have in their favour is that they do reply promptly and the telephone is manned Mon-Fri 9-5.

It looks like you web host have setup their SMTP server to only relay on emails to local email addresses.

Contact your web host as to the settings of their SMTP server

I have tested the email/registration/activation process and for me it works OK, however, I've just been advised that the registration process has failed for this applicant who received the following error.
 
Persits.MailSender.4 error '800a0006'
550 not local host jerseymail.co.uk, not a gateway

/forum/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 268
Help (in language I can understand) will be appreciated.
