This question has been asked quite a few times now, and sticky topics do address this.

Version 8 beta 1 is beta software and is not stable and is for testing only, and upgrade tool will be avialble for the launch of the full version later this year.

I'm hoping than beta testing will be complete with 2 to 3 months, but a number of large new features like Galleries, are still to be added and will need to be tested in future beta releases.
