Make sure that at the select from the drop down list to show topics for a longer time span eg. 'Show Topics in the Last Year'

The default time span for each forum can be set in the admin section by editing the properties for each forum.

I have 4 posts in a forum; I can see it in the post count.
When I enter the forum I see only two posts.

I have made no modification, what can the problem be?
