Speed issues will vary from host to host. Some have priority contracts with multiple trans-oceanic providers, and some just go into the queue with normal traffic. There will always be some additional delay but the cheaper hosts may be 10-20 times slower. Up until recently I have always hosted this site in the US and didn't have any issues with speed problems.

However, I recently changed to hosting this site ourselves in the UK and there is quite a noticable increase in speed.

Also with US server you have the issue of different time and date settings compared with UK servers.

I am in the UK. If I were to host my WWF forum on a Server in the US, would I notice a speed issue or is Trans-Atlantic traffic so fast nowadays that it's the same as hosting in the UK ?
