Glad it worked, I've never used Exchange Server myself, but I used the same trick in MailEnable Pro.

I'm going to be setting up a server with Small Business Server 2003 in the office in the next few days which does come with exchange server, so I will bookmark your page, as I may need to refer to it myself.

This is a great topic for those running web wiz on an Exchange server. Exchange 2003 does have relay disabled by default for security. You must add your servers IP address, or 127.0.0.1 as listed above to your approved relay list in the exchange system manager in order for Web Wiz to route through exhange.

If you use 'localhost' as the SMTP server then allow open relay for localhost only and localhost IP's 127.0.0.1

This should prevent spammers from abusing your server

Also, I have had some pretty terrible experiences with spammers overloading previous servers due to having an open relay. One of the biggest nightmares I have ever had with Exchange. We actually had at one point, multiple spammers submitting over 1,500 emails per second for our exchange server to deliver. So I am very iffy on leaving my server open for those type of attacks again. I do have the correct SMTP auth account listed in the functions_send-mail.asp. The exchange server is setup with the default settings. Hello, this is the first time setting up Web Wiz on my local server. Any time I send a mass email, or someone registers a new account which initiates the email activation, I am getting an error '8004020f'
forum/forum/admin/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 137.
 
I am running 2003 Server SP1, with Exchange 2003 SP1 which controls SMTP. IIS 6.0 is running the forum locally, with a dedicated IP for cleint connectivity. You can view the site at: www.doctortalk.com/forum.html.
 
I have read all of the information on setting up CDOSYS smtp settings through the functions_send_mail.asp page, and everything is setup properly.
 
Here's the kicker, and may take some knowledge of Exchange, the error only occurs when Web Wiz is sending to an email address outside of my exchange server. Local email accounts (registered with exchange) are delivered fine. But soon as I send mail to all accounts, the web wiz administrator (exchange account) is delivered, and then the error '8004020f' occurs before making it through any external accounts used by clients.
 
I have of course verified that I can send to external accounts OK, which has worked the last 8 months on this server with no issues.
 
I also read about my version 7.96 not supporting localhost mail, so upgraded to the latest version 8 RC1.1 with no change in the email error. (Swapped back due to the custom setup I have created with headers and footers.)
 
Any idea's would be greatly appreciated, I am the webmaster for my client's site who is very respected in his feild, and we already have tons of clients and viewers giving some negative feedback about our forums.
