It could be the '<' and '>' parts.

Try using the change username tool in the admin area to reset the persons username, if that fails you may need to set the user and new username.

I'm running ver 8.01 and I have a member with a nick <koksi>. He can not login by using his old password (i also tried changing his pass)....I wonder does it have something to do with his nickname because it starts with '<'

i appreciate all the help

btw great job with the generation 8...:))...lot of compliments from my members...
