Yup AVG here too!
I'm thinking, cos i only get this problem when using IE (for testing purposes only!) it's prob some sort off IE script running and ruining the fun for normal people.
As i use FireFox for everyday browsing it causes no problem, maybe -boRg- has done a sneaking bit of coding to force people to use firefox (i wouldn't blame you mate) LOL

BTW, for the benefit of others, the script issue also disallows the creation of polls (of course polls use the WYSIWYG editor too).

MacNaffee is just a name I use for MacAffee after experiencing so many issues with their software, Nortons the other one that courses loads of issues, but my pet names for that one couldn't be repeated in public.

I wonder how many others don't rate this antivirus software. I assume any antivirus software that blocks java would have the same problem. I've never heard the expression MacNaffee but it raised a smile and will probably stick! I've not had any viruses with Enterprise edition but I acknowledge your own experiences and preferences.
 
I will assume only the WYSIWYG editor is affected.
 
I'm gonna just let it run and see how many people complain before considering how to deal with it.
 
Otherwise...all else still running well after the overnight upgrade !

Also, maybe worth pointing those MacNaffee users at the free AVG Anti-virus software, it's much better and free.

I gave up using MacNaffee years ago as it simply didn't stop allot of viruses coming through.

I can get upwards of 300 viruses a day at web wiz guide so need a good anti-virus software and AVG seems to do the job well.

I now have the network edition of AVG installed on the email server and have not seen a virus for 6 months since installing it.

As the WYSIWYG Editor software can NOT work without javascript changing the software is not an option.

The only option for those people who want to use script blocking software is for them to disable the WYSIWYG Editor in their forum profiles.

I did more testing and can confirm that when using IE on a workstation it all works fine when I switch off "Scriptscan" under VirusScan on-access properties.
 
However, when using IE on the server the results are not so definate. It seems to be connected with this option although results are inconsistent. Maybe this is what Mikey is seeing.
 
Ignoring the server, the problem affects all forum members who use VirusScan with its default settings. They are unable to edit their posts and perhaps there are other restrictions brought about by script blocking that we should make them aware of?
 
A lot of people use VirusScan. Should they all switch off this security feature, do without editing their posts or could a forum software change solve the problem?
 
My preferred workaround for now is to switch off the security option only temporarily when I wish to edit.

Occasionaly i receive that error to and i am not using any script blocking software etc (maybe i shouldn't tell the world that) a quick refresh of the page makes it go away usually but not always.

It doesn't really bother me just FYI -boRg-

Are you using MacAffee?

If so then this software has a script blocker built in which prevents javascript from running correctly.

The MacNaffee software is the most common course of this issue.

Well, the message box has a message in it which I added to and I don't know of any script blocking here...
