Yes you can, go to the forum's setup page in the admin area, and edit the forum you wish to chnage the default date for.

You can set a different date for each forum.

I have a simple problem, but unfortunatley haven't been able to find the solution yet...
 
On my message board, the default is set to show topics "from the last month"... Can I change this preference to always show topics "from the last year" instead?
