The latest version 8.02 now includes CAPTCHA for guest posting to stop spammers.

i have now installed V8, on my developer site. its a demo i just use to show, to my costumers, if thy want forum in the sites we make for them.

i whould like to add: CAPTCHA securty to the post and to the reply post, funktion.
can you tell me how?
whit, CAPTCHA when you have to post or reply, im sure the spamm will stopp :)

Once the database is upgraded to version 8 it can not be used on version 7, doing so will mess up the database.

There maybe a mod to allow multiple languages to be used in version 8, but you would need to have a look in the mods and add-ons forum for this, or the other option is to run multiple copies of web wiz forums, but using the same database backend.

Yes you are right :(but the thing is, its much much, modified. and integrated, in to my site.

And over the years,more that 3 programmers have worked on it, so I don’t even know all the thingsthat has been don to it.

 

But I guess I must, doan upgrade :(

There are some QuestionsI need to ask you then.

 

Can I upgrade from 7 til 8, Database only, and still run V7 on 8database.

(the reason is, then I can slowly update one part at a time of theforum, and hopefully get it to work whit my site, 1 thing at a time), and putold files back if problems, I cant fix happens, and need expert programmer helpto solve those problems.

 

Do you know if its nowin version 8 possible to have more then 1 language?

So that users canchoose what language thy want in the forum?

 

And when i upgradefrom 7 to 8, is there some things I have to be aware of?

7.01 is extremely old now, about 3 years +

You really need to upgrade, not just to stop this pamming but also to fix a number of security issues that could allow a hacker to deface your forum and entire site.

There is little that can be done in 7.01 to prevent spammers except use the tools available, version 8 is much more secure and has quite a number of tools to prevent spammers.

Im running heavy modified,integrated forum version 7.01.
so i cant update.

i like the forum i have just fine ;)
But now lately we are getting spammed by post spammers.

if there a way for me to block those spammers ?
ive tried to block there ip, but it dos not help, thy can spamm anyway, stillwhit same ip :(

i tried to incorporate the CAPTCH thing.
But its to hard for me, cant get it to work, in forum, can some one help me ?
