That is true of the SQL Server and mySQL version, but the Access version on the download page has the following:-

Please note: - MS Access is only capable of supporting small forumswith a handful of users, if your hosting supports it, use the morepowerful MS SQL Server or MySQL database management system's.

Once Access is corrupted there is little that can be done to recover it if the Tools built into MS Access don't work.

Access is simply an office desktop file, and sometimes can be quite surprising with some users reporting that they are using the Access version with over 200,000 posts and 10,000+ members, and many users will argue that Access is great and can support large forums.

However, I have found from 5 years of supporting this software that Access does occasionally become corrupted, also add to the fact that many web hosts will suspend your hosting account, stating you are using to many server resources as soon as your Access database gets to 10Mb, I do try a persuade people not to use the Access version if they expect more than a handful of users, however, this seems to fail on deaf ears.

So, now that I have a corrupted database that doesn't seem repairable, am I basically screwed? There is nothing that can be done?

I personally would rather drop the Access version completly, but people do insist on having it, as nearly all ASP web hosts offer support for Access databases for free and if you only have a handful of vistors then there is no problem.

Instead I do state quite clearly on the download page that you should not use the Access version unless you really have to, but it seems that allot of people tend to ignore this advice until they have issues like you are having.

Why offer a product in this format then? Just curious...

Any other way to fix this?

An error around that line number indicates a database problem.

Access is only a desktop flat file and not a real database and so often becomes corrupted.

To fix the issue, download the database, open in Access, and select 'compact and repair database' from the Tools menu.

To prevent these types of problems you should consider using the mySQL or SQL Server versions.

Hi!

Am im using V 8.01 for .ASp / Access. I set it up over a month ago and EVERYTHING was working!

NOW, upon new registration I get the error: /v2/forum/register.asp, line 976

I have not chagned ANYTHING scinse it was origiannly working: ANY IDEAS???
