Version 7 used to be like this with a profile button at the bottom of each post along with a few other buttons, but then people complained that it made the page looked cluttered, used more bandwidth and rendered to slowly with all the extra buttons.

So for version 8 all these buttons where moved to an improved profile page.

Basically, whatever way you do it you can't win.

I think this is a good idea...  from one of my users:
 
Would it be possible to setup a pm button on each post similar to what PCGS has? it does not seem that intuitive to click on someones profile and then find the pm button.
