I can't see anything in the code that would course this situation.

Try reuploading the new_post.asp file and see if the post count still stays the same when these members post, if it does let me know and I will look further into this.

Yes - they are all in the members group (which is not a ladder group). But it is not all of them. It seems to work for some but not others. It is a new forum. The moderator and administrator groups seem to work fine. 8.03 with MySQL

All working well but some members have posted but the number of posts (on their individual posting) remains at 0 - grateful guidance.
