If your web host has the AspUpload component installed then use this one as I find it is the most efficient one.

In the upload configuration page in the admin area there is a textbox to change the default location of the upload folder, however, some users have experienced issues when changing this so it is advisable to test any changes you make to this.

After making my last post and reviewing my web hosting control panel I discovered the correct file upload component and made the security adjustments. I also found I had overlooked the file upload settings in the admin section of the forum. After working with this a bit, I was able to get everything configured as needed and ran a couple of tests. These turned out to work perfectly. The upload time was very fast as was the download time. The nice thing about this is the fact that the actual file upload folder is invisible to the user during the process. I will want to relocate the default location of the folder in the final version but, according to the license info (after purchasing the key) I have the freedom to change this code in order to accomodate the folder location. Correct? 
This negates the need for a reply to my last post so please ignore.
This is turning out to be exactly what I am needing. Thank you and congratulations on a job well done!

Thank you for your quick response. I will probably set up a link page for access to my ftp site. I never gave it much thought about the methodology used to upload / download files within a forum but what you are saying makes perfect sense.
This brings up another question:
How difficult would it be to set up a means to allow the user to click on a link programmed into the forum in such a way that the link would be based on that particular user's password? Similar to your icon in the post area but gaining he/she access to a private ftp upload/download area.
I ask this due to the importance of transfering files. It may be too much to ask since the forum software wasn't really designed to function as I am thinking of implimenting it. Any comments would be welcomed.

You don't have a file missing.

ASP doesn't have native built in upload support so an upload component needs to be installed on the web server.

Most web hosts have an upload component installed on the web server and Web Wiz Forums supports all the major upload components, you just need to select the correct one from the admin area for the one installed on the web server you are using.

The error message you get:-

An error has occured while uploading file/image. Please check the Persits AspUpload is installed on the server.

From the error message it says that you are attempting to upload using Persists AspUpload, you need to check that the upload component is installed on the server, if not and you have access to the server you need to install one of the supported upload components on the web server, once this is done change the settings in the admin area to use that upload component.

The upload limit is set to 2,000Mb max as this is a size limit imposed by the IIS 6 web server itself, the reason for this is that HTTP is a very bad way to upload files to the server and can course all sites to stop responding while the upload takes place. Microsoft have placed this limit on IIS 6 in the hope that if you want to upload larger files you use FTP or something similar. There is a registry hack you can do to the web server if you want to get around this, but you would need to search google for this hack as I have never tried it myself.

Sirs,
I recently downloaded your forum software (yesterday evening) and installed everything without a hitch. After getting the bulk of the settings adjusted (more of a test implimentation for now) I was able to run through the features and etc. from a user's perspective and found it to be quite nice.
I am ready to purchase the ad-disable key as this will not do for my situation. This brings me to my question in regard to the only feature that did not work and, even if it did, needs to be revised (at least for my purposes).
The file upload feature (where posting a message) did not work. I continually received an error message which alluded to a file being missing:
 
"An error has occured while uploading file/image. Please check the Persits AspUpload is installed on the server." or similar. I did some checking and found the actual .asp file which creates this message which tells me the file that is supposedly missing isn't.
 
What I need, and this will determine the final decision to purchase the key, is for this feature to work and work very well. I also need the file size limit set much higher. I do not care about time to upload (within reason) as it is my intent to create a project sharing site where files can be uploaded and downloaded by my clients as well as myself. The security for such a site is well implimented within your forum software as is everything else I would need.
 
Please respond as soon as possible.
