    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=1">WebWiz-Bruce</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 22224<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 01&nbsp;March&nbsp;2007 at 5:56pm<br /><br />To prevent spammers from abusing your SMTP server as a open relay I would leave the authentication in place.<br><br>I find with MailEnable that as long as it can authenticate you against a user on the system it will allow relay.<br><br>The simplest way to do this is create a mailbox in MailEnable, then in web wiz forums in the email setup page in the admin area enter the username and password for the mailbox you have just created in MailEnable.<br><br>MailEnable should then be able to authenticate you and allow you to relay your emails to non-local addresses.<br><span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by -boRg- - 01&nbsp;March&nbsp;2007 at 5:57pm</span>]]>

The server response was: 503 This mail server requires authentication when attempting to send to a non-local e-mail address. Please check your mail client settings or contact your administrator to verify that the domain or address is defined for this server. <BR>==========================</DIV><DIV>So I logged into the server, and checked the SMTP settings. Right now, it's set to "Allow relay for authenicated user" and the autentication is set to the MailEnable integrated authenication checkbox. The only other two options are "windows authenication" or "use this name/pw combination" and two fields to enter the items.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>WHat I wanna know is - from maybe someone who also uses MailenablePro, is what setting do I use?     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=1">WebWiz-Bruce</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 22224<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 21&nbsp;February&nbsp;2007 at 8:35am<br /><br />This is a problem with MailEnable not with the forum software.<br><br>You have setup MailEnable to require authentication when sending to a non local email address.<br><br>I'm not sure how you have setup MailEnable but usually when you get this message it means that you need to setup a mailbox in MailEnable then in the Web Wiz Forums email setup page include the username and password for that mailbox. This way when the forum goes to send an email MailEnable can authenticate you.<br><br>Another option is to setup MailEnable to not require authentication for localhost email, you would need to check the MailEnable knowledge base on their site for more details on setting this up in MailEnable.<br>]]>
