There are plans underway for version 10, whereby instead of needing extra fields in the database to store options in which can course performance issues, and also requires database changes to add new options. To instead have 1 field that contains all the forum options.

This would mean improved performance, more options available in the admin area, and being able to add new options for minor releases without having to make database alterations.

Seeing that this is a forum, you would think that your member base would be the most important part of your forum. If it weren't for the member's participation, you wouldn't have one at all. Why would you want to hide that?
