Also if you hover the mouse over it, it will tell you the number of unread posts in that forum or topic.<br><br>If new Posts are added to a Topic or Forum during your visit the icon will unpdate to tell you their is an unread Post in that Forum or Topic.<br><br>Unread posts are also display with a Yellow Star at the top left of the Post.<br>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=1">WebWiz-Bruce</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 24388<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 12&nbsp;September&nbsp;2007 at 8:16am<br /><br />The problem with version 9 is not allot of people beta tested it, so many bugs that effect only certain server setups did not come to light.<br><br>Also version 9 made a big change to the user interface, as a result allot of people gave feedback on this, but again mainly after version 9 was released and not while in beta testing.<br><br>This last release is fairly stable and most people now seem happy with it, so unless a critical bug comes to light the next release will more likely be some time off.<br><br>There have also been some new features added to version 9 since it was released, such as improvements in the Member API, uneder version 8 this was not very widly used, but seems with version 9 this is very popular, so improvements have been made to this feature.<br><br>The other main feature that has been added is the 'last unread post' icon which takes the user to the last unread post in a forum or topic. This was added after user feedback, as it had not been suggested before and was relatively easy to implement and is a great feature, that I use myself all the time now.<br>]]>

Implementation of new releases is totally optional and minor versions can be skipped easily.</P><DIV>I was lucky that it only took me 5 minutes to:</DIV><UL><LI>download and unpack the files <LI>copy the files to new forum folder (\forum905) in my site <LI>copy across the database connection file <LI>copy across the CSS formatting files <LI>copy across the header and footer files <LI>copy across \uploads and set permissions <LI>edit a file to switch off birthdays (the only software modification which would be better off in the database) <LI>test it runs OK (quick test as easy to revert to previous version) <LI>rename the new forum folder to go live</LI></UL><DIV>I have no code modifications and I&nbsp;avoid mods like the plague and stick to standard package software&nbsp;whenever possible otherwise those mods have to be redone or at least checked every new release. It's not hard for WebWiz to do a monthly schedule like the first Tuesday of every month (microsoft's way) and issue updates by then&nbsp;...but people will not like it that way.
