You were right on the money. I was using the wrong tool. Using the "Topic Options" from the "Moderator Tools" drop down allowed me to acheive the required results. Thanks again.]]>

This then allows you to move a whole topic to a new forum.<br>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=22910">Packrat</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 24745<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 01&nbsp;December&nbsp;2007 at 6:11am<br /><br />I'm using <span style="font-size: 10px;">Version 9.06 </span><br>&nbsp;I too have generated this error.&nbsp; Its a BUG.<br>&nbsp; I have just set up a fresh install of version 9.06 with a Premium License.<br><br>To reproduce the error<br>Using&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <b>POST OPTIONS</b> (as admin) to <b>MOVE POST</b> <br><br>Step 1 states<br><b>&nbsp; Select the Forum you would like this post to be in        </b><br>&nbsp; &#091;&nbsp; list of all the forums, selected one &#093;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Did that<br>Step 2 states<br><b>     Select the Topic you would like this post to be in     </b><br>&nbsp; &#091;&nbsp; list of topics in the new forum area, if any &#093;<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;     <b>Or, type the Subject of a new Topic     </b><br>&nbsp; &#091;&nbsp; BLANK entry to enter new topic&nbsp; &#093;<br>     <br>&nbsp;&nbsp; So I chose to type the Subject of a new Topic    <br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; (QUESTION: Why do I have to choses a new topic title? why does it not keep the one in teh origina post? )<br>&nbsp; anyway,&nbsp; when I click the <b>MOVE POST</b> button I get the following<br><br>ERROR MESSAGE:<br>-----------------<br><p><font face="Arial" size="2">Microsoft JET Database Engine</font> <font face="Arial" size="2">error '80040e21'</font></p><p><font face="Arial" size="2">The changes you requested to the table werenot successful because they would create duplicate values in the index,primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fieldsthat contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index topermit duplicate entries and try again.</font></p><p><font face="Arial" size="2">/discussion/move_post.asp</font><font face="Arial" size="2">, line 156</font> </p><br>-----------------<br><br>Please NOTE:&nbsp; If you use an existing topic from the destination forum in the pull down, this works. no error, and it does move / copy the message (although I don't like the fact I can not keep the existing topic of the original message. <br><br>&nbsp; (and is the older message in the newer forum being over-written by the message being moved? I did not test this, but it seems that it is. if this is the case, this would be Bug2 of the process.<br><br>This seems to mean that instead of adding a new record, which creates new id's in the destination forum, it tried to add a record with and existing record id.&nbsp; I'll have to look at the code to see what is going on.&nbsp; But I do want to report this BUG.<br><br>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=1">WebWiz-Bruce</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 24745<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 05&nbsp;November&nbsp;2007 at 8:12am<br /><br />It sounds like you make have lost the default values for your database.<br><br>Have you recently moved the SQL Server DB?<br><br>The reason being is that SQL Server 2005 import/export tools are really bad and often do not copy across default values, so you end up with a database that doesn't work.<br><br>With SQL Server 2005 the best way to move a database from server to server, is to either create a backup of the SQL Server database, or detach then reattach the database.<br>]]>
