When connection to SQL Express using localhost, SQL Express needs to be all capitals as it is case sensitive:-

localhost/SQLEXPRESS

Hi

Tried the localhost/SQLExpress. Uninstalled and reinstalled in Mixed mode. SQL authenticated in (not windows auth) and created database. Changed database_connection.asp to "sa" for the user name and still no luck. Turne on Pipes and TCPip and still can not connect.

Any ideas ?

1. Make sure you have installed SQL Express in mixed mode with TCP/IP connections enabled

2. SQL Express installs with the default instance of SQLEXPRESS so you need to include this in the connection. For example if SQL Express is installed on the same computer as your web site use the following:-

Hi,

New to this. I run the MSSQL_SERVER_SETUP.ASP and keep getting the following error regardless of the username, SQL server name, password, etc. Change the database_Connection.asp file numerous times.

Using SQLEXPRESS

----------------------------

Error Connecting to database on SQL Server

Check the following is set up and correct:-

SQL Server User Name
SQL Server Password
Name of the SQL Server
Database name set up by you on the server
Empty Database set up by you on the SQL Server

Check also that you have entered the correct details in the file 'database_connection.asp' found in the 'database' directory.

Detailed Error Message:
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Error Details:
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Any idea on what may be happening / what I need to fix this?
