The error means that the mail server you are using requires authentication to send remote emails.

In the admin control panel make sure that you also specify the correct username and password to authenticate with the SMTP server.

Your web host should be able to give you more information on the correct authentication settings.

All of a sudden I'm unable to send email in WWF using ASPEmail. I get the following error when I test my settings in the Email admin area of WWF.

 
Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while sending an email.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_send_mail_footer
File Name:- functions_send_mail.asp

Error details:-
Persits.MailSender.4
550 must be authenticated
 
I tried re-installing to no avail. Can anybody shed some light on this or tell me of another email application I can use.
