The cookie is only created when the user navigates to the forum, before then the data is stored in the session variables.

Session variable usually last 20 minutes by default after the user navigates from the site or after 20 minutes of non activity. If you close your browser then session variables are lost immediately.

Incase your web site is setup to drop session variables sooner than this you can add the following line into the top of your own login pages:-

Session.Timeout = 20

This then sets the session timeout to 20 minutes, you may wish to inrease this, but increasing it to much can have a negative impact on your web sites performance and resources used.

I'm using Firefox.

If my users are logging in through my web site, (not WebWiz) how does the log-in info get into a cookie that WebWiz can see?

Sorry I thought as you were posting in the version 8 forums that you were using version 8.

In 9.06 the login information is already stored in a cookie, so unless you click the logout button you would remain logged in.

If it is not behaving in this way then it maybe an issue with your browser. Try using a different browser and see if that solves the issue.

I'm running version 9.06

I received information to use the api to pass the authentication data, which is (I think) what we are still using.  Where do I find information on using the cookie?

This issue was fixed in version 9 which uses cookies for tracking instead of session variables for the API.

With session variables they are deleted by the web browser after leaving the site, closing the browser, or 20 minutes of no activity.

I have my web site configured to hand the user info over to WebWiz.  My users log in to my site, then the api auto-logs my users into WebWiz when they choose to enter the forum area.  My problem is, even though my users stay logged into my site, if they go to another site for a second (in another window, for example) they get logged out of Web Wiz.  To get back in, they have to log out of my site then log back into my site, to be able to get back into WebWiz.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  I'd like to have it so that no-matter-what, if my users are logged into my system, they can come and go in and out of web-wiz without having to re-log in each time.  Seems simple, Yes?
