I've tested this just now to check and it worked fine.

There is no password complexity feature in version 9. Version 10 will have a password complexity option that can be enable from the admin area which means uses must enter an alpha numeric password.
Author: mjarvis
Subject: 25640
Posted: 22 April 2008 at 7:56pm

I am new to Web Wiz Forums, but as a seemingly simple start to setting up the forums, I tried to change the administrator password. When I tried changing it though, it kept telling me "access denied" after submitting the changes. After going through the forums and thinking the cookies were my problem, it turns out that it was because I was using a "*" in the password. The strange thing is that I couldn't find anything that mentioned what characters were allowed in passwords. I am guessing that the restrictions are alphanumeric only, but there is no mention on the profile page, nor does it give a specific error telling me that the password I have chosen isn't appropriate.

I couldn't find any other posts related to this subject so I don't know if this is unique to me, or if this is known. If it is known, I guess this would either be a feature request or a bug fix.
