79 forums!!!

That is the problem for slow loading, for each forum 3 to 4 database hits need to be made, 79 x 4 = 316

Maybe try a reduce the number of forums you have down to something morereasonable, or replace the default.asp page with a static versionlinking to your forums.

Actually, i have a dedicated server, which is something good (P4 2.6 with 1Go RAM) and i have the latest version installed, with some changes made to the skins to fit our actual look (no change to any function in the software) and still, i get CPU usage topping to ~85% everytime someone loads the home page of the forum.
 
When nobody is on the forum, i have an average CPU of ~5%...
 
What is the problem with this forum ? I though it was a good one but it seems i'll have to find something else to fit my needs...
 
First page takes something like 7 seconds to load.
 
We have:
 
575 messages in 100 topics for 79 forums.
74 members

About the "anonymous" question..
When you Login to the forum, you have two options: "Auto Login" and "Add me to the active users list".

When you don't mark the last option, people will see you, on the "Active users list" as Anonymous.

It's less to say that "anonymous" users are registered members.

Errm, another question, when i click at the active user listing, there is a "anonymous" user, can please advise where this come from? I thought there are only guests user if they are not registered.

OT: Is there any plans to move wwf to ASP.NET?

This site is on a shared web server with GearHosts, click the link onthe left of this page and if you sign up with them could you mentionyou where refered by this site. They run quite a number of WebWizForumson their servers.

I imagine the error is beacause the ASP response object can only handleup to 100kb of data, this data includes cookies, session variables,form data, query strings, browser head details, etc. so is differentfor every site and every page.

If you try and post something which is too large the response object will course an error.

Sorry, another question - did anyone encounter any problems when trying to update a huge RTE table?

The table will be updated but will not redirect back to the topic. I got the following instead:

I have tried to increase the script timeout parameter but still got the same error. I am on 7.51a now.

I also don't see why the wwf can take up huge resources, I went through the codes and could see that you have already put in effort to optimize it.

I totally agree on what you have stated. I guess a change of web host is now inevitable. Thanks!

I've done loads of tests and the forum doesn't use anymore server resources than any other application connecting to a database.

If you are on a Windows web server then a PHP forum would use far more resources.

This forum also uses stired procedures for the SQL server version whichmeans that it uses less resources as the SQL queries don't need to becompiled each time. Stored procedures are not available in mySQL soagain this would use more resources.

Maybe a change of web host would be an idea to one that knows what it is talking about.
