When you connect with ENtMan to the same SQL Server that you specified in the sql server connection.asp file and look at the same database as in the connection.asp file then you should see the tables IF they were created successfully. If you are sure that the connection information you provided is correct then you might want to take a look at the SQL log files if you have access to them. Also make sure that the user you specify has the appropriate rights to create tables and sp's

I finally got it to run and typed in the username and password for the empty database I created in Enterprise Manager but when I run the page I get a whole page full of errors like this:

Error Creating the Table tblCategory (it may already exsist)

Error Creating the Table tblForum (it may already exsist)

Error Creating the Table tblTopic (it may already exsist)

Error Creating the Table tblThread (it may already exsist)

The last line on the page says: The SQL Database was setup but with errors.

Any Ideas as to what I am doing wrong now. I went back to Enterprise Manager and checked the database and no tables were created. Does the database need to be in the same root folder as the rest of the forum files? If so how do I find where SQL Server put the database when it was created? I can find the log and data files but have not been able to figure out where the databases are stored at.

Thanks for your time and trouble.
Bryan

    Author: bryan
Subject: 7416
Posted: 20 November 2003 at 4:03am

I have downloaded version 7.6 SQL version to try it out in hopes it would work on a web site I am working on. On lines 6 & 7 in the documentation is says to edit the SQL_server_connection.asp file, I did that, and then to run the file msSQL_server_setup.asp file. This is where I have problems, I tryed to open the file in IE without any success. I even tried to run it from the "RUN" comand line still nothing. I copied the file into a folder that I already use for a web site I am doing that has other .asp files in it and and tried to open it again in IE still without success. Other .asp files in that folder open just fine so I wouldn't think it is a server issue, I have IIS and SQL both running on my machine. Any ideas as to what I may be doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
