You made need this in the avatars directory, as you never said waht version of the forum you are using.

To be safe just put copies of it in all the directories with images.

The error means that you have deleted the blank gif avatar file, thiscan happen when upgrading, changing the deafult avatar file, orreplacing avatars with your own avatars.

You must have the following file:-

forum_images/blank.gif

It needs to be a blank gif image file.
