    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forums.webwiz.net/member_profile.asp?PF=1">WebWiz-Bruce</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 7621<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 27&nbsp;November&nbsp;2003 at 12:11pm<br /><br />If you read the install insructions that come in the forumsdocumentation folder you will find that a default admin account iscreated for you and what the username and password is for this account.<br><br>The comments that you refer to are for the constent for encrpyted passwords:-<br><br><font color="#0033ff">Const blnEncryptedPasswords = true<br><br><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">As it says in the comments abovethis, if you disable the encrypted passwords your forum will beinsecure and insructions on what to do if you do go ahead and disablethe encrypted passwords.<br><br>This has NOTHING to do with installing the forum and 99.9% of users will never need or want to disable the encrytpted passwords.<br></span></font>]]>

I just assumed that he meant it will encrypt my manual entry after I save it. (see footnote ¹)</P><P>I like your suggestion on a database editor kiwi I will try that. I don't think I will f^^^ it up as I'm just following the programmer's instructions. And I am not a novice ASP programmer either. What do you say Mr. Programmer. However I only have MS Access 97 on my PC and can't read in the wwForum.mdb database file to be able to change the admin password at the tblAuthor record 1. Do I have to go out and buy MSAccess 2000 just to change my admin password??? There must be another way to setup an admin account. Brinkster supports MSAccess 2000 so that's not a problem. They just don't supply a database editor.</FONT></P><P><FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color=#0000cc size=4>Maybe some ASP programmer out there can submit a snippet code that will read and write to those database records? I would do it but I don't now the Web Wiz mdb file's dataset structure. And I'm not all that&nbsp;ADOB connection oriented either.&nbsp;</FONT></P><P><FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color=#0066cc size=4>Spook</FONT></P>]]>
