Author: Jesper
Subject: 9047
Posted: 19 January 2004 at 8:41pm

Hi all,

I've tried to find the answers to my questions in the forum, but with no luck, so now I'm creating this new thread hoping that somehow helps me.

First the info on my setup:

Using Access with version 7.6. I started using the forum when it was around version 5 or so and kept upgrading it from back then.
I Want to upgrade to 7.7 on SQL Server 2000 now.

3 questions:

- When I activate e-mail notification in the forum, many members complain that they are mail bombed. I want to clear ALL subscriptions that people might have set before I re-enable it again. Can somebody help me here?

- This is probably easy: How do I enable members the 'forgotten password' link at logon?

- Now for the biggie: I tried to upgrade to 7.7 on SQL Server 2000. Here's what I did: I created a new database on my local MSSQL using the install ASP page that comes with 7.7. Then I copied the SP's from that to the production MSSQL. Then I imported the access database straight into the production MSSQL.
I edited the database-connection string. According to the ISP I should use a slightly different one than the one used in the forum (provider=OLESQLDB.1 (added the '.1') and set the 'network=blah_bla_blah_something'). I uploaded all files to the production site (in a seperate folder for testing). Now, when I try to post in the forum I get:

ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cb3'
Unknown runtime error
/forumsql/post_message.asp, line 604

... and in some cases it just timeouts on me.
When I try to delete a post (as admin), I get:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e24'
Rowset does not support fetching backward.
/forumsql/delete_post.asp, line 242

I also get errors when I try to move posts.
You can check it out at www.vfr.dk/forumsql ... It's a copy of the production so feel free to trash it.

help?

Best regards,

Jesper

Edited by Jesper
