Topic: A couple of version 7 beta 3 problems Posted: 27 February 2003 at 3:49pm |
Ok, these are probably related to the database conversion utility offered in the downloads area, but I'll share them anyway.
1. The administrator account is reset and the post numbers are lost. Easy enough to fix in the db directyl, but still a nuisance.
2. Now the email members feature in the admin panel is disabled. My host allows me to do this, so I'm not sure why this is happening. I can't seem to make it work again.
Anybody else noticed this?
Great work Borg! Version 7 is gonna be fantastic.

1. You can also fix the number of posts issue by simply editing the profile of the account from the admin area. Admins can now change the post count of any member.
2. The data migration tool was made for beta 2, and the mass email fetaure was only added in beta 3.

MadDog,
Really? can you pm me an example at my site? Thanks dude.
Borg,
Thanks. I will look up that feature. The mailing list feature is still an enigma huh? ok, no big deal, I just have it up right ow to play around with it. My trust version 6.x is still installed and chuggin right along.

Thanks for the feedback Steve and I will correct this for the revised Migrator build as soon as I get hold of the v7beta4 DB release.
Meantime as a workaround for Item 1, BEFORE running the Data Migration from the Main Menu simply change the following:
a) open Query "011qappAuthor" in Design View, carefully change the Author_Id criteria from >2 to <>2 and save changes. b) open Query "009qdelNewAuthors" in Design View, carefully change the Author_Id criteria from >2 to <>2 and save changes
Now run the Data Migration which will include the administrator in the migration sequence but importantly, leave the guest account untouched.
Hope this helps Nigel
