here's the thing, my host claims that the reason why Access.LockFile.9 isn't going away is because of 2 reasons. my db is nearing 2 megs and it is having lots of posts made all at once.

well first off it's not that big of a message board community and is extremely geared towards a specific target audience and only members can post. so that rules out the tons of post theory being made.

the second is size, well allowing for that and the fact that it is an Access db i can understand some slow down; but i don't think 6 hours for the file to go away is really reasonable at all.

what i was wondering is if there is any recomendation you folks might have on your end to help speed up the process of Access.LockFile.9 to go away. besides changing host because that isn't do able at this exact time.

yes, i do periodically, almost weekly, compress and repair the db to keep the size down. i also regularly clean out useless posts.

so i'm open to suggestions.

Well, I'd have to disagree with your host somewhat. I run an Access powered WWG forum that is currently ~14MB, has about 8000 users, and never shows less than 20 active users at any time. Kudos to -borg- over and over!

If you want to see for youself, go to http://www.rexpage.com/myseq/forum/default.asp#stats and check it out. You can even login as test:test if you want to see the active users and all.

Its all in the hosting setup.....
