I imported a 50 meg Web Wiz Access db into SQL using Enterprise Manager. After doing the rest of the manual tweaks to get the forum running I found that searchs would take 5 seconds or more and sqlserver.exe would use 99% of the CPU until the search completed.

I ran sp_updatestats on the SQL db and searchs dropped to peaking at 60% CPU and taking under 1 second to complete. This is on a forum with 36,000 posts, the server is a Athlon 2400 with 512 meg of ram and no other load or websites on the machine.

I hope this helps someone else out.
