Hello I need some help. I hope some of you can help out. I just installed Web Wiz and I've tried to set up the email activation feature to on and when I test register the email does not go out to the person that registered. I selected Cdonts as my component but I'm am not using the Win2k server IIS smtp. I'm currently using Merak Email Server. How to I set it up properly in order to send out activation email successfully. thanks I appreciate any help.

I beleive that CDONTS automactically looks for the IIS SMTP server.

It maybe better to use CDOSYS which is part of the Win2k OS and specify the SMTP server you are using.

I use Merak, and CDOSYS.

You have to enable sending from the forum on Merak, best way to do it safely is by IP address (assuming your on a static IP) or by domain. Once you have enabled it on the Merak server you will have no problem!

Have a look here for further information: http://www.icewarp.com/Knowledgebase/273.htm

(Best advice would be to enter the knowledge base directly rather than through the address above, but that is the page to help you on your way..)

Make sure you're not using authenticated SMTP. I'm kinda new to webwiz, but it looks like it doesn't account for authenticated SMTP.

BTW, the functions_sendmail_mail.asp code to insert for CDOSYS for authenticated SMTP is (around line 108):

.Fields("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/smtp authenticate") = 3
.Fields("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/send username") = "ausername"
.Fields("http://schemas.microsoft.com/cdo/configuration/send password") = "apassword"

Hey God_Struth,

I looked into my relay settings and the local IP is there. I am behind a DSL Router so should I add my Wan IP Address in there or just my LAN address to my server?  I have CDOSYS selected and entered my email server as per the example. Should it be something else you enter besides mail.website.com or could it be wan ip or internal ip? So far I have mail.website.com and cdosys selected and the merak relay has the internal IP address in there and when I register a new user it just hangs and comes up blank. I've logged in but I get no email. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. How do you have yours setup? Thanks I appreciate your help!!

You need to use the LAN IP to the mail server, while mail.website.com should work if your router is configured to forward emails requests to the mail server it's still better to just use the LAN IP to the server.

I don't know what that problem is, probably something with the email server.
