    Posted: 31 May 2005 at 8:19pm

I HTML view I want to use a link to a place elsewhere in the text, like:

<A href="#test">test</A>

but RTE will transform this into :

<A href="http://www.richtexteditor.org/demo/?QS1=demo#test">test</A>

This does not link to the right place in the text.

Is there way around this problem ?

The RTE uses the editors that are already built into the verious browsers.

IE's built in editor creats shocking HTML and also for some reason likes to re-write the HTML, including the links.

Try using Firefox, it's built in HTML editor is much better.

Using the RTE on a website with many different users it will be hard to pursuade and propel everyone to use Firefox.

I had hoped there was another way to achieve the 'Anchor HREF' without IE replacing the URL.

Solution for those few people who must use IE (no replacement of URL). Also works with FF:

<a onclick="location.href='#test'">test</a>

I am having similar problems with both IE and FF, however when placing the actual anchor in both duplicate the anchors all through the text!

i.e.
"><A name=internet_trading></A></FONT></DIV>
<H1 align=justify><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><A name=internet_trading></A></FONT></H1>
<DIV align=justify></DIV>
<H1 align=justify><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><A name=internet_trading></A></FONT></H1>
<DIV align=justify></DIV>
<H1 align=justify><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><BR><A name=internet_trading>Internet Trading<SPAN class=EmailStyle15><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black"> </SPAN></SPAN></A></FONT></H1>
<DIV align=justify></DIV>
<P><FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size=2><A name=internet_trading></A></

and this carries on throughout the document until the next A tag where it then duplicates that one.  Anyone else had this? it happens in both FF and IE and we've tried taking the anchors out in a text editor and pasting the html back in but as soon as it is saved (or maybe when it is opened again) it reverts to the duplicates.

It's a shame cos i really love this editor and all it's extra functionality it's just this (and a couple of other) tiny niggle that means we may not be able to use it.
