I am new to ASP. I started looking at a few tutorials and example scripts to learn the language, and am still not sure of the differences between the different forms of ASP. I've heard of ASP, ASP.Net VB, ASP.Net C#, ASP Javascript, and ASP VBScript.

What are the examples on this site using? Can IIS serve all of the types? Are there significant differences in them, or is the learn one, learn them all type thing?

Thanks,
Brett

ASP is the predecessor of ASP.net.
ASP is mainly written using Visual Basic Script.
ASP.net can be written in VB.net, C#, J# etc. (they are not scripting languages)
They can all be served using IIS.
All examples on this site use ASP.
If you start to learn now, I'd learn asp.net with the language of your choice or learn both vb.net and C# is up to you, they do pretty much the same as far as capabilities go.
Download Visual Web Developer.net from Microsoft, which is a fee tool to design asp.net pages

This site is probably all written in ASP.

ASP can be VBScript or JScript, IIS supports both.

ASP.NET is a major leap forward in relation to classic ASP.

Again, if I were you starting to learn just now, I would go for ASP.NET, however is more difficult to learn than classic ASP, you have to look at it from a different prespective, but since you don't know classic ASP to start with, there won't be a different prespective for you.

All and all, ASP.NET is a better decision--according to some credible sources, ASP, only has another 3 to 5 years of life expectancy left, before Microsoft stops support for it in favour of, you guessed it, ASP.NET.

Just my 2 pennies.
