Running forums with access database. Am I right in thinking that ALL the changing data ie members, posts etc is stored in just the database?

And therefore as long as I FTP the database to my home machine regularly, I can always upload the database if there was any problem on the site?

Is there any software that can backup automatically?

that is correct, aslong as you can access the database via ftp , then you can doownload and if required re upload.

if the forum is going ot be quite active and big, i would recommend going to use the MSSQL version.

That's what I thought...BUT, I've changed the name of my database and changed the references to it in both common.asp and \admin\ common.asp.

When I look at the site I still have wwforum.wdb and it's dated more recently than my named database.....a bit confusing.

Thanks, sorted now. I had changed the right lines in both files but somehow only the /admin/common.asp had uploaded.

Have uploaded correct common.asp and all is well.

Thanks for your help.
